Girls Hockey Program News
By: Coach Kim McCullough
The PEAC Girls Hockey team had their "rematch" against Appleby College at Chesswood Arena on Monday February 28th and came out with a fantastic 3-1 win. Every member of the team played with tremendous energy and executed our game plan perfectly.
Special mention goes to Molly Tissenbaum for a fantastic goaltending performance, Kandice Sheriff for an amazing end-to-end rush and "top corner" goal and Dana Somerville for an unbelievable blocked shot that instantly energized our team. Thanks to all the PEAC students, staff and parents who came out to support us - we only play a few "home" games per season and they are always our best performances.

Our PEAC Piranhas took to the ice at Vaughan Sports Village on February 7th & 8th to compete in the annual Cabernet Cup. Game 1 of the day had them in a battle versus the tournament champions, Loyola and ended with a disappointing loss of 6-5. PEAC was seeking redemption in Game 2 and were successful in defeating Richview Collegiate, 3-0.
Day 2 featured an early morning win in the quarter finals which meant facing Bishop Ryan in the semi-finals. Despite rallying hard to take the game, PEAC fell short with a 4-2 loss. Troy Josephs had 1 goal and 1 assist and was named game MVP. All of the players' efforts were a credit to our school- well done!
Boys U-16 Hockey Program News
One week following the U18 tournament, our PEAC U16’s were fired up to bring home some hardware. Day 1 appeared to be a cake walk with three consecutive wins and scores of 3-1, 6-1, and 6-1. Day 2 presented more of a challenge with PEAC facing Saint Michael's in the semi-final round. Though it got off to a rough start, goals for Angelo Nitsopoulos and CJ Bollers ignited the team's momentum to take PEAC to a convincing 6-3 win. The finals would pit PEAC against Hill Academy. The game was intense with each team going goal for goal and PEAC outplaying the Hill, yet not managing to score to seal the deal. With the game tied after three periods at 2-2, they went into sudden death overtime which lead to an early chipped in goal by the Hill.
Though disappointed with the loss it was a great end to the day to see such a well played game with such skilled players.
Special mention to Josh Ho-Sang who was named game MVP for both the semi-finals and finals. Josh also won the "Fastest Skater" award during the skills competition.
We are very proud of our squad well done!
