PEAC SCHOOL FOR ELITE ATHLETES - Shaping Our Future Leaders

In their first rematch since last season when PEAC defeated The Hill at the OFFSA All Ontario Jr Classic, the U16 Piranhas took a bite out of Hills Pride with a hard fought 6 - 3 victory at Chesswood Arena.

The game was tied 3-3 with with 5 minutes remaining when the Piranhas bared their teeth and ripped apart the Hill de-fence, sniping 3 quick goals to put the game on ice.

Scoring for PEAC was Connor McDavid (2), Brett Dunsbier (2), Mitchell Stephens (1) and George Mika (1). Josh Ho Sang chipped in with 3 assists and Andrew Tucci lead the team between the pipes.

PEAC Prep Hockey Program

New to PEAC this year is a travelling Prep hockey team. Headed by Coach Dave Chevrier, the following information was provided by Assistant Coach Jeff Watson.

PEAC Prep Hockey players are provided with the best train-ing in hockey, fitness and life. Accountability in the class-room, in their social circles and in life are the core values developed by the PEAC Prep hockey program. The PEAC College Prep Team is comprised of 15–18 year-old elite level hockey players. The purpose for our team is to provide our athletes with an opportunity to be scouted, recruited and earn scholarships to Division 1 and Division 3 NCAA schools.

Since the first week of September 2011, PEAC Prep has been on 6 tours to the United States including trips to: Schnectady, NY; Exeter, NH; Salem, NH; Marlborough, MA; New Haven, CT; Amherst, MA. During these trips, the team has visited and toured the following institutions: Yale Uni-versity, University of Massachusetts Amherst, Wesleyan Uni-versity, Union College, RPI University, University of New Hampshire, and Northeastern University.

After 21 games, the team has a record of 11 wins, 6 losses, 3 ties and one shootout loss. PEAC Prep has competed in the Boston Junior Bruins Shootout, the New England Fall Prep Classic, the Beantown Fall Classic as well as College Cup Tournaments.

Still to come before January are 4 more tours including 2 in Massachusetts. The team has already drawn tremendous attention and following with various teams requesting games because of our high level of play.

U16 Tournament - York University November 16th / 17th

Players will be selected this week for the U16 tournament being held at York University November 16th and 17th. Academic eligibility will be one of the considerations when determining the selection process. We want to remind parents that permission slips for the tournament will need to be remitted immediately after they are handed out. No permission slip, no tourna-ment, no exceptions.

Welcome Aboard Coach Mark Joslin

We would like to welcome aboard Mark Joslin to the PEAC coaching staff. Mark is presently the coach of the 1996 AAA North York Rangers. Prior to joining North York two years ago Mark was the coach of the Jr A Stouf-fville Spirit.

Mark brings many years of experience training elite players at all levels and is a great asset to the program. Welcome aboard Jossie!

On Ice Testing Completed - Report Cards Coming Soon

On ice testing of all players and goalies was completed last week marking the end of the long process to establish baseline speed, fitness and agility on the ice.

All athletes also completed a series of off ice tests early in September to establish their base-line scores in categories that included total chin-ups, pushups, agility, RHIET (Repeated High Intensity Endurance Test) and single and double legged long jumps. All athletes were meas-ured for height and weight which will then be monitored and compared twice more this sea-son.

Instructors have now finished their first series of marks and comments for round one of the report cards. They have been remitted for review and will be sent out to the parents Novem-ber 11th.

If you have any comments or concerns regarding the on ice reporting please contact your son’s Program Leader.

What is a Program Leader?

The Program Leader is a point of contact for par-ents. He is responsible for keeping track of atten-dance and writes the comments found on the re-port card. Please note that the report cards are a reflection of joint discussions between all on ice coaches, not just the Program Leader.
