PEAC WINS 2010 ONTARIO JUNIOR BOYS HOCKEY TITLE

Toronto, ON
April 15th, 2010

The PEAC Piranha's went 7-0 showing exceptional individual skill and talent. The Canlan Junior Boys Ontario Classic draws over 40 top teams from across the province and is played over two days at York University. In order to capture today's championship, PEAC had to fight off hungry competition, some adversity and fatigue as the team battled through an exhausting 7 hockey games.

In the final, PEAC beat the two time defending champs Loyola Raiders, from Mississauga. The game was 2-1 with 10 minutes to play. Final game MVP Bo Bessette held the fort early which proved to be the difference.

Over the course of two days PEAC's outscored the provinces top teams 45-5. The Piranha's controlled play from their stable defense core anchored by top 95 draft picks Bateman and Subban. Doggett (94) showed nice poise and versatility playing back and was complemented by the physical play and grit of Burke (94) and Piltzmaker (94).

Up front PEAC offense was relentless on the opposition, high end 94's Fontana, Polessello, Bradley were effective and key players thoughout the tournament their ability execute at will on scoring plays was pretty, and something this tournament hasn't seen in a few years. Nitsopoulos(95) joined the top line and generated some key offensive production. The "Bob Marlie" elementary school line of McDavid (97) Salituro (96) and Ho Sang (96) were impressive against the older, bigger competition. This younger unit was able to control play down low and contribute with key goals. The physical unit of Herron (94), Neilly (94), Lopez (95) set the physical tone in most games, these players stuck to the plan and played a key role for the team. Veitri (95) showed good character and was trusted in key situations, showing hard work pay off, he scored empty net goal in the final. PEAC Goalie, Michel (95), complemented Bessette well and was trusted in key situations making saves when tested.

Great work and superior coaching assisted in this victory and should not be understated, great job Coach Quinn, Coach Moe, Ms. Quinn and Stickle.
