PEAC Defends Title on Home Ice in Burlington

The day might have started off a little ominous with a thick fog covering much of the GTA this morning, but the PEAC Piranha hockey squad comprised of grades 6-8 from the Toronto and Burlington campus’ had a clear vision of what they wanted to achieve; and they would not be denied.

After winning two well contested games in the morning, the PEAC coaching staff and players alike maintained their focus knowing that the competition would only become stronger. This was certainly the case during the third game trailing by 2 goals with just one period remaining. With their backs against the wall, PEAC rallied in the third period scoring 3 unanswered goals with great offensive efforts from several players including David Miller, Ryan Foss, and Domenic Procopio. This was matched by strong defensive play by Michael Givens, Tyson Gilmour, Liam Davidson and Jordan Harris. Mention should also be given to Griffen Coutts who was solid throughout. Final score 6-5 PEAC.

The final was another highly competitive game versus a motivated opposing squad. PEAC’s offensive pressure however, would prove to be too much and the net minder Michael Bullion left many players scratching their heads as to how they were to get the puck past a wall. Final score 6-3 PEAC.

All in all, it was a successful, fun, and entertaining day of hockey. Many thanks for the strong efforts put forth by all of the players and coaches involved on the day. Congratulations!

Notable Mention: Domenic Procopio - MVP of the tournament.

Coaches: Pete Richards, Rob Radford, Miss Quinn and Mr. Shortly
