U14 and U16 Trip to PEAC London

On December 19th the PEAC U14 and U16 teams packed up the PEAC bus (Neil Doctorow at the helm!) and headed down to London for a couple of 'friendly's' with our PEAC London counterparts. Below is a quick recap from 'Coach' Doctorow as he manned the U14 bench:

"The boys in Toronto were outsized but not out skilled. The talent with that U14 group is unreal. Dante Sheriff was a force and scored a lot of goals, Payton Francis took the sportsmanship and hard hat award for the hardest working kid with the best attitude. Regan O'Grady led the team with sound defensive skills earning him a spot as a centerman in the 3rd Period. Mario Ferraro's speed and skill was notable as well with at least one goal. Connor Mullins' steady hands and beautiful passing was a key to stopping the giants at PEAC London. The unreal stick skills from Garaffa was a crowd pleaser from both sides. Mykolai Chmelenko, as the 3rd year PEAC vet, demonstrated an aggressive style of play with outstanding skating. He is truly a threat from the back end and as an attacking winger. Mateo, Clarke, and Jasper were very solid and aggressive, helping keep the puck in the big London boys end. Christian Galluzo took the puck with authority, had a great attitude and was an impact player with his sick stick-handling. Although Toronto fell short by one goal, the class and hard work from the Toronto crew was something to be very proud of. Notable mention to Stephen Black, newly named defense coach - an elite member of the U14 squad!

The U16 squad persisted in a 10-6 win against the London U16's. Unfortunately we didn't get a detailed update of that game but reliable sources tell me we scored 10, they scored 6, therefore we won.:)

Teacher/Staff/Alumini vs Students Game

On the last day of the term the staff, some teachers and a handful of alumni players battled it out at Chesswood against the students. It was a young student team (mostly grade 7's and 8) and they learned quite quickly that the wiley old vets, while maybe not as fleet of foot, can still bring it. In a game with no mercy asked, nor given, the staff hammered the kids 54-1. OK, that might be a bit of an exaggeration but it wasn't pretty...:) Director Doctorow finally relented and rebalanced the teams (I think he may have filed a formal protest with Hockey Canada) and the play was much more even. A good time was had by all, nobody was injured and it was a fun way to finish off the term.

PEAC Prep vs Hill Prep

PEAC Prep faced off against their arch nemesis Hill Prep for a friendly at Chesswood arena right after the Staff/Student game. After a spirited match the PEAC squad earned a nice 3-1 win over Hill and sent them packing back to their cave in the frozen northern tundra above Steele Street.:) Scoring for PEAC Prep was Kal Alli with two goals and Drake Hart with one. Yoshi Kuroiwa was solid between the pipes for PEAC, a team with only 7 forwards on the bench.

Fitness Testing In The New Year
Just a quick reminder that when the kids return in January we will conduct the second round of fitness testing on the Tuesday.
